All Time Montreal Canadiens All Star Team

Posted by agrawest on April 17, 2010

First of all may I say I despise the Montreal Canadiens , but may I also say I do respect them. This, in my opinion are the finest players to ever don the red, blue and white colours of les Habitants.

Goalie- Number 33 Patrick Roy in a close battle with  Ken Dryden and Bill Durnan. Roy was cocky, arrogant, and a great goalie. he won 2 Stanley cups in Montreal in 1986 and 1993 with 2 teams that based on talent did not deserve to win. He also won the Vezina in 1989 and 1990. Great goalie.

Defence- Doug Harvey- What a defenceman. He won 7 Norris trophies playing with the habs along with 6 Stanley Cups. Does not get enough respect as he was basically run out of town in the early 1960′s due to a drinking problem.

Defence- Larry Robinson- Big Bird was huge and in his 17 years with the Canadiens they made the playoffs each year , winning th Stanley Cups.Played on the great Habs teams othe 1970′s with Savard and Lapointe.

Forward- Jean Beliveau affectionately known as Le Gros Bill. A hero in Quebec for his grace on and off the ice. He was captain of the club from 1961 to 1970 and won 10 Stanley Cups. One of the two greatesy number 4′s in hockey history.

Forward- Maurice “Rocket” Richard. One of the two greatest number 9′s ever. First player to score 50 goals in 50 games. Famous for his stare. Won 8 Stanley Cups including 5 in a row as captain. The most important player in Canadiens history.

Forward- Guy LaFleur. Famous for his speed, end to end rushes, wicked slapshot , and long ,flowing hair. What a great scorer! He singlehandedly could change a game. Elecrifying to watch and had what Danny Gallivan would call ” a cannonading drive”

So their you have my picks. What would you do differently?
